frequently asked questions

How many kilograms of roughage can I load into my HayButler?

The maximum carry capacity of the HayButler is 10kg, but it performs best with 4-6kg of roughage. The amount you can fit into your HayButler will depend on volume. Please be aware that over or under-filling might cause the roughage to get stuck inside the bag and not release properly.

What type of roughage can I use in my HayButler?

HayButler can be used for any type of dried roughage for example lucerne, oat hay, teff or eragrotis. The HayButler performs best with cakes/slices of hay rather than chaff, which is often too great in volume with very little weight.

How many hours in advance can I set my HayButler?

The HayButler can be set for 24 hours in advance.

Is the HayButler waterproof?

The HayButler is not waterproof. It can be used outside in the sun.

Do I have to set the HayButler every time that I use it?

You only need to set your HayButler once to release at the same time every day. You can change the release time as many times as you like by using the menu.

Can I use my HayButler for soaked roughage?

The inside of the bag is lined with polyethene (plastic) and is waterproof, so in theory you can load soaked hay into your HayButler. In reality, it may become tricky to clean the inside of the bag.

How often do I need to charge my HayButler?

This will depend on how often the screen is used, but with every day general use the battery should last more than a year before it needs to be charged with a standard USB-C charger.
