Initial Unboxing

  • Unfold the bag and inspect the control unit and bag for any defects

  • Plug in a USB-C charger to charge the battery to 100%.  This will take approximately 3 hours.

  • Middle Button - is used to move down or decrement the time

  • Bottom Button - Confirm/Enter

  • Press the up or down button to adjust the minutes.  Press confirm to lock in minutes.

  • If successful you will be presented by the Menu screen

Menu Option 1 (Manual Release)

  • When selecting Manual Release you will be presented with a Press to confirm screen.  Press Confirm/Enter Button to release the latch.

  • This can be used at any time when required regardless of the release time set.

Menu Option 2 ( Set Release Time)

  • Selecting Set Release Time allows you to set the time in the future for when you would like the HayButler to dispense your chosen roughage.

  • Time can be adjusted up or down.  Short presses increments/decrements time by 1 minute.  Holding the button increments/decrements the time by 5 min every second while the button is pressed.

  • When the correct time is set press the Confirm Button

  • The set time will flash 3 times, followed by a Time Set Screen.  The unit will then shut down the screen and go into sleep mode until it is time for release.

  • The set time automatically moves over to the next day after the release time.  You only need to set the time once if the same time is required everyday

Menu Option 3 (Show Release Time)

  • Selecting Show Release Time,  allows you to see the current set release time for today.  If the release time has passed it will show the release time for the next day.

  • Pressing any button moves you back to the menu

Menu Option 4 (Set Clock)

  • Selecting Set Clock allows you to adjust the current internal clock.

Load and Close HayButler

  • Turn the Bag upside down to fill from the bottom

  • When the bag is filled with the required feed, roll the bottom of the bag (about 2 turns) until the latch is visible and line up with the slot at the bottom of the control unit.

  • Press the latch into the control unit, the internal latch is spring loaded and you will hear it click into place when properly inserted.

  • Turn the bag around and grab it by the carry handle and give it a proper tug to settle the feed at the bottom of the bag.

  • This will allow proper release when the bag is fully loaded

Mounting

  • The HayButler can be mounted using the carry handle or the four metal rings.  The HayButler mounting kit makes mounting easy and enjoyable.

  • Clips, ropes or, in true horse fashion, baling twine can be used to mount HayButler wherever needed.

  • Mount HayButler high enough to allow easy release of feed

  • Wait and enjoy worriless feeding

Problems & Issues

  • If your horse is very inquisitive and tends to bite or nibble on the bag, we recommend to mount it higher than your horse can reach.

  • Turning the bag around so that the control unit is at the back will also help with any horse curiosity.

  • If the bag opens but your feed does not release, make sure it is not over filled and try to keep the roughage in compact slices when loading.
